/ The Iraqi youth team failed to reach the final match after losing to its Saudi counterpart 2-1 in the semi-finals of the West Asian Football Federation Championship for under-17s.

The match took place at 7:30 pm today, Monday, Baghdad time, at Al-Saada Stadium in the city of Salalah in the Omani Dhofar Governorate.

The first half ended with the Saudi national team leading by two goals to none against the Iraqi youth team. The Saudi national team’s goals were scored by Dhari Saeed and Abdulaziz Al-Fawaz.

In the second half, Iraq scored the only goal from a set piece outside the penalty area in the 59th minute, executed by player Zain Al-Abidin Jassim.

With this result, the Saudi team will meet its Yemeni counterpart to play the final match in the tournament.
