PAOK triumphed with a score of 4-1 against Volos at the Panthessaliko Stadium in a match where they imposed their rhythm after a poor start and easily secured the victory. The Volos team played with ten men from the 35th minute due to Ferrari’s dismissal.
A few days before their European debut, PAOK won convincingly at the Panthessaliko, defeating Volos 4-1. The Magnesia team started strong in the match and tried to surprise PAOK, but Kotarski kept his team in the game. In the 1st minute, he made a double save, and in the 3rd minute, he said “no” to Altman during a penalty kick.
Following that, the Thessaloniki team took control of the match and began to put pressure on Volos. In the 24th minute, Schwab opened the scoring with a successful penalty kick, and PAOK therefore took the lead in a match where they had imposed their rhythm and were creating several chances. Razvan Lucescu’s team played beautiful football, generating chances, while in the 35th minute Volos was reduced to ten men due to Ferrari’s dismissal.
At the start of the second half, PAOK came out eager to secure the game, and in the 54th minute, Murg became the scorer in a play where Kamara took the shot, but the ball deflected off the defender and ended up in the net. The Volos team did not give up despite being down to ten players and tried to exploit the inertia of PAOK’s defense. In the 57th minute, Mendieta scored with a header after a corner from Glavcic, although he had been stopped by Kotarski just a minute earlier. PAOK’s reaction was immediate, as in the 60th minute, Volos, trying to build a play from the back, made a mistake that Tsoundali capitalized on, providing the ball to Tyson, who with a placed shot inside the area made it 3-1. Subsequently, PAOK had more opportunities for additional goals, and it is worth noting that in the 49th minute, they hit the crossbar after a free kick from Murg. Kamara also hit the woodwork in the 86th minute, while in the 89th minute, Chalov scored an incredible goal when he put his foot in front of Kovacs as he made the clearance, resulting in the ball hitting him and ending up in the net for 1-4.
