WAC’s trip to Johannesburg, another proof of the influence of Moroccan football in Africa (Amrani)

In a speech during his meeting in Johannesburg with the players and technical staff of WAC, Mr. Amrani indicated that the feats achieved by Wydad Casablanca and other Moroccan teams across the continent constitute support for the diplomatic action of the Kingdom, promoted by His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

Highlighting the avant-garde role of youth, not only in sports, but in the construction of the entire Moroccan society, Mr. Amrani noted that the presence of African players within the WAC team attests, once again, to the African projection of the Kingdom.

“Football and sport in general play a major role in bringing Morocco closer to Africa, which remains a priority of the Kingdom’s foreign policy,” he maintains.

In the same vein, he explained that just like diplomacy, football contributes to the influence of Morocco’s image on the African continent. “In these difficult times characterized by the health crisis following the Covid-19 pandemic, the WAC took the initiative to travel to Johannesburg, thus proving its commitment to representing, as it should, national football and Morocco,” he said.

The ambassador took the opportunity to congratulate the team for qualifying for the second round of this sports competition and for its position as leader of its group.

WAC had largely won against the South African team Kaizer Chiefs by 4 goals to 0, during the match played last February in Ouagadougou, as part of the first day (group C) of the African Football Champions League.
