If the municipal council supports Mayor Dimitar
Nikolov, the undersized classes will be preserved
this school year

The Municipality of Burgas will spend an additional BGN 500,000 from its budget to supplement classes in 12 schools in order to save them from closure. This was found out from the report of the mayor Dimitar Nikolov, which will be considered at the upcoming session of the municipal council.

It is about undersized classes that cannot collect the necessary minimum for their existence according to the Ordinance on the financing of institutions in the system of school and preschool education.

16 students are needed from I to IV and 18 from V to XII

The problem classes are in the schools “Vasil Levski” in Bulgarovo, “Hristo Botev” in the district “Cherno More”, “Ivan Vazov” in the district “Banevo”, “Hristo Botev” in the district “Vetren”, “Hristo Botev” in the village of Marinka, “St. St. Cyril and Methodius” in the village of Ravnets, “St. Kliment Ohridski” in the quarter “Rudnik”, “Yordan Yovkov” and “Petko Rosen” in Burgas, in the Maritime School “St. Nicholas” “, the transport and construction high schools in Burgas.

For one reason or another, there are not enough students for them in the classes of almost all grades, including the higher ones, and not only for admission to primary schools.

The proposal for additional financing of the classes came from the directors of the schools and was discussed with the head of the RIO, who allowed the granting of the additional funds, as it is according to the regulation, the mayor explains to the municipal councilors.

Dimitar Nikolov’s proposal is for the local parliament to vote an additional BGN 557,000 in order to continue the existence of the undersized classes.

“Some of the schools are the only ones in the villages
places

and the impossibility of forming classes in them will lead to students traveling to other educational institutions, which may lead to demotivation and refusal to attend school for some of them.

Redirecting students from these classes could also lead to the withdrawal of students from other classes, which will inevitably worsen the general condition of the schools,” commented Mayor Nikolov.

And he reminds the municipal councilors that professions in the Maritime School and that in motor transport are formed according to specialties protected by the state, and

their preservation is imperative given the absence
of frames

For example, the construction school trains mosaic workers, faience workers, formwork workers, masons and other professions in demand in construction.

“The condition of the schools that submitted requests to form classes with students below the permissible minimum is generally good and the following graduations imply a normalization of the number of students in them,” the mayor is convinced.

According to him, with their financial support, they would continue to play an important role in the lives of people in the respective settlements, creating conditions for young families to raise children, which is the main goal for the demographic development of Burgas.

If the municipal council supports Dimitar Nikolov’s proposal, the undersized classes will be preserved this school year.
