The latest update to Apple’s computer operating system, macOS 15 Sequoia, is causing problems for several cybersecurity developers. CrowdStrike, SentinelOne e Microsoft appear to be among the most affected companies but it is not clear what the problem is that is causing the difficulties in functioning of their software within the new operating system of the Cupertino company.
“As a developer of macOS security tools, it’s incredibly frustrating to have to deal over and over again with angry users blaming your tools for breaking their Macs, when in reality it was your fault all along. I understand that writing bug-free software is challenging, but maybe if Apple spent less time and money on marketing and more time actually testing their software, we would all be better off!” said Patrick Wardle, founder of DpubleYou, company that produces computer security systems dedicated to macOS.
“We are very sorry to inform you that we will not be supporting Sequoia on day one of the update despite our intention and standard company policy to support the latest operating system within a few hours of its availability to the public,” he said. CrowdStrike.
“We are also monitoring some similar issues with other vendors and have feedback on a case to forward to Apple. While we would love for there to be a near-term patch that fixes this for us, we are operating under the assumption that there won’t be one and will have to address it in our code with a sensor release,” the company continued.
