Placed under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, this unmissable event in the international culinary calendar, initiated by Rahal Event, the organizer of the CREMAI show, is in line with the enlightened vision of HM the King aimed at promoting the intangible heritage of the Kingdom and developing South-South exchanges, and strengthens the position of the ochre city as the African capital of gastronomy, indicates a press release from the organizers.

This prestigious event, which will be held at the Palmeraie Rotana Resort hotel, “is not limited to a simple culinary confrontation. It is above all a celebration of African gastronomic heritage, while serving as a platform for innovation and creativity,” underlines the same source.

By strengthening the links between the continent’s gastronomic cultures, TOC Africa contributes to the promotion of culinary heritage, but also to the growth of Moroccan tourism and hospitality, the press release adds.

By hosting this major event, Morocco is once again positioning itself as the undisputed leader in hospitality and gastronomy on the international scene. The competing chefs and pastry chefs, rigorously selected in their respective countries, come to defend the colors of their nations in front of a jury composed of the greatest experts in the field.

The Moroccan representatives, for their part, were chosen during the TOC Maroc, a benchmark competition organized in May 2023 as part of the CREMAI trade fair.

Thus, on September 12, the Bocuse d’Or Africa will put chefs from Egypt, Ghana, Mauritius, Morocco and Senegal to the test for 5 hours and 35 minutes of competition.

These countries will have to demonstrate their excellence through two major events, the first of which, “Theme on Platter”, consists of sublimating a roast beef sirloin and sweetbreads, accompanied by three vegetable garnishes, including one representative of their country, to exalt the richness of African culinary traditions while respecting international presentation standards.

In the second challenge, “Theme on Plate”, participants will have to design a complete menu around the carrot, including a starter, a main course with three pieces of scallops, and a dessert.

A second plant protein can be added, demonstrating the ingenuity of chefs in combining creativity and local flavors.

As for the Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie, it is the stage where the most promising talents from 20 countries selected from more than 50 countries participating in the national and continental selection process, express the trends of their art and carry with panache the values of their respective cultures.

On September 13, the African Pastry Cup will celebrate the art of pastry making through events that will showcase the creations of master pastry chefs from Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Egypt, Ghana, Mauritius, Morocco, Senegal and Tunisia.

The candidates will surpass themselves during 10 hours of competition in several categories, namely “Tasting Events” and “Artistic Events”.

These spectacular creations, both for the eyes and the taste buds, will crown the excellence and creativity of the pastry chefs.

Through these competitions, Morocco not only strengthens its gastronomic influence but also reinforces its role as a driving force for African cooperation, through exchanges that transcend borders.

The finals of these two African competitions will be held in the prestigious setting of the SIRHA exhibition in Lyon, in 2025, thus extending the brilliance of the efforts made during TOC Africa 2024, the press release concludes.
