Cancellation of the match between Al-Defaa Al-Jawiya and Al-Ahly Aleppo after the latter’s withdrawal from the Super Basketball Championship

The management of the Syrian club, Al-Ahly of Aleppo, announced its withdrawal from the friendly basketball Super Championship held in the Syrian capital, Damascus, after the events that accompanied the team’s match against the Lebanese club, Beirut.

A statement by the club, followed by the (INA), today, Monday, stated: “Due to the attack of some of the agitators in the Al-Fayhaa Hall on the fans of the Ittihad Aleppo Club, and the throwing of water bottles at the fans and players, and assaulting and beating them; the club’s management decided to immediately withdraw from the friendly Super Championship, in order to ensure the safety of our players and fans, and we hold the organizing committee responsible for the events before the start of our team’s match with the Lebanese Beirut Club.”
Thus, the match between Al-Defaa Al-Jawiya and its counterpart, Al-Ahly Aleppo, which was scheduled to be held today, Monday, for the third round of the International Super Basketball Championship, which will be hosted by Al-Fayhaa Hall in the Syrian capital, Damascus, until the twenty-seventh of this month, is considered cancelled.
