Salvini at the Lega federal, freedom of conscience on the end of life – Italy-World

by times news cr

(ANSA) – ROME, SEPTEMBER 24 – On the end of life, the League gives freedom of conscience to its parliamentarians and regional councilors: this is the line, as far as we know, indicated by Matteo Salvini during the federal council meeting in the afternoon: the party does not have a univocal position on this issue and therefore lets everyone express themselves based on their own sensitivities. Even the governor of Veneto Luca Zaia, explains those who participated in the meeting, intervened sharing Salvini’s approach. Zaia had promoted a popular initiative law, rejected by the Veneto regional council in January, and on that occasion the leader of the League had explained that “the League is not a barracks, there is freedom of thought”, specifying however that for him it was “a good thing” that it ended that way. In a few weeks the Regional Council of Lombardy should examine a bill by the ‘Luca Coscioni’ association, and the issue is also under discussion in the Senate, with a bill on medically assisted death being examined by the Justice and Social Affairs commissions.
