Stefan Mross’ cancellation of an Oktoberfest date recently caused a stir. Now his girlfriend Eva Luginger is taking a stand.
According to a report in the “Bild” newspaper, Stefan Mross cancelled an Oktoberfest keg tapping last Saturday because he had allegedly drunk too much at a wedding the night before. The pop star then explained to RTL that this was “a completely false statement”. Now he is going further. And his girlfriend Eva Luginger is also reacting.
The wedding that Mross attended on Friday evening was the celebration of Eva Luginger’s younger sister. RTL spoke to the singer on Monday after Stefan Mross’ performance at the Franconian folk festival in Crailsheim. In the interview she said of the wedding celebration: “It was really beautiful. And we don’t want to ruin that with these negative headlines.” It was “madness what was unleashed there.”
She is referring to the reporting on Mross’s cancellation of the Oktoberfest. The 36-year-old says: “I think it’s a real shame and weak that you can write anything and make up anything about a person who is in the public eye. I find it appalling, really.”
Many of her family members were also disappointed by the negative headlines and asked themselves: “What kind of lies are being invented again? Or was I at a different wedding?”
As Mross’ manager Birgit Fischer-Höper claimed in an interview with “Bild”, Luginger had cancelled her partner’s appearance via text message four hours before the planned Oktoberfest appearance. She gave “logistical reasons” as an explanation. Mross is now sticking to the reasoning in a statement to RTL: “We have driven 1,500 kilometres in the last two days and are also travelling in a truck. That’s why we cancelled it in the morning and it became a huge fuss.”
The musician is currently touring Germany and explains: “You can’t party all day and also go to Oktoberfest and from one festival to the next […]. We have responsibility here.”
He thinks the reporting about his cancellation is “simply not fair”. “There is a soul behind an artist,” he says. It is logical that one “doesn’t drink peppermint tea at a wedding”. However, he has not looked too deeply into the glass.
His manager recently appeared angry about the last-minute Oktoberfest cancellation. She had to spontaneously look for a replacement for him and then took action. Fischer-Höper ended her collaboration with Stefan Mross on Monday, she told RTL. However, Mross now claims to the broadcaster: “Oh, we’ve been working together again for a long time. Of course it wasn’t great for anyone, we have to admit that quite honestly. But we will definitely work together again.”
