The competition launched the “First Sport” initiative
“Every child should have the opportunity to participate in a sports activity – be it in a sports hall or on the chess board, and discover a sport he likes at an early age.” This was stated by the leader of the Youth Union in the BSP, Gabriel Valkov, in Monday.
He and young socialists from the capital organization of the BSP gathered on Lake Pancharevo, where they held and participated in a canoe-kayak competition on the last day off from the holidays. The event was held under the motto “Sports First”, and its purpose was to attract attention to the need to promote an active lifestyle among young people. The initiative is part of the larger campaign of the young socialists “First job! First home! First child!”, which aims to support young people with measures to secure their first job, housing and opportunities to raise a child in Bulgaria. The proposed measures include increasing sports hours in schools, holding inter-school competitions of the most early age to stimulate sports activity among children, as well as creation and selection of young sports talents.
Gabriel Valkov and his deputy in the youth organization, Georgi Angelov, as well as the symbolic host of the event, Sava Dikov, chairman of the young socialists in the “Pancharevo” region, took part in a canoe-kayak competition in the lake.
