Benghazi hosts international exhibition on health and food security

Benghazi city inaugurated the activities of the “Mena International Food and Agriculture Exhibition”, “which aims to enhance food security in the region by showcasing the latest technologies and innovations in the agriculture and food sector.”

According to what was published by the Benghazi Municipality, “The exhibition provides a platform for companies and institutions working in this field to display their products and services, exchange experiences and knowledge, and build new partnerships that contribute to the development of the agricultural and food sector in Libya and the region.”

According to the municipality, “The exhibition includes organizing a scientific forum that focuses on the relationship between food, health and behavior. It also discusses the role of food systems in preventing chronic diseases, and the role of industry in encouraging healthy eating patterns, reviewing a case study on sustainable food systems among teachers in some Benghazi schools, to understand the factors that influence food decision-making.”

It also focuses on “the impact of additives on food, the role of the industry in developing safe and nutritious food products, specialized nutrition, marketing and effective communication in the food sector, discussing ways to build strong relationships between the food industry, nutritionists and consumers, and the challenges facing the industry in producing safe food that meets international standards, with a focus on technical and legal aspects, with the aim of ensuring that consumers have access to accurate and reliable information about food products, and building confidence in the food industry.”

The exhibition will continue until September 26, and the opening ceremony was attended by figures from various sectors, as the delegation included Member of Parliament Sultana Al-Mismari, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Dr. Awad Al-Badri, Chairman of the National Development Authority Dr. Jibril Dhaoud Al-Badri, a number of consuls in Benghazi, Chairman of the Municipality’s Executive Council Eng. Al-Saqr Imran Bujwari, and Chairman of the Benghazi Chamber of Commerce, Agriculture and Industry Saleh Al-Obaidi, in addition to businessmen and managers of companies participating in the exhibition.

On the sidelines of the exhibition, “memoranda of understanding will be signed with governmental and private entities, including the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture and the Libyan Medical Associations for Nutritional Support, Therapeutic Nutrition and Food Sciences, to enhance cooperation in the food sector and achieve sustainable development goals.”
