Atalanta vs. Como Match Postponed Due to Heavy Rain and Unsafe Field Conditions

by time news

The match between Atalanta and Como, originally scheduled for tonight, has been postponed.

The game, which would have marked the end of the 5th round of Serie A, was initially decided to go ahead despite the heavy rains in the Bergamo area, with a new kick-off time set for 22:45, but it was ultimately decided to postpone it definitively.

The match kick-off did not take place at the scheduled time (21:45) due to the issues with the pitch and concerns for the players’ safety.

In the Bergamo area, there was continuous torrential rain for several hours, resulting in the stadium turning into… a swimming pool. The referee entered the field for the usual inspection, dropped the ball on the grass, but it did not bounce at all.

The stadium staff did everything they could to resolve the issue and to ensure the playing surface could meet acceptable levels for the game to take place. The players returned to the locker rooms.

It is worth noting that if the weather conditions allow, the match will take place on Tuesday.
