The unique piece is located in the basement of a villa in the poets’ quarter of Bad Nauheim. Just a stone’s throw from the house where Elvis Presley’s soldier met the very young Priscilla – as the film about the future wife of the King of Rock n’ Roll recently showed. Ina Simone Mautz opens her record store in Villa Hansa. And just in time for the country’s famous Elvis Festival this summer. And so the fans of the singer, who died in 1977, “ran into his place” from one day, as he said.

Anyone who walks into their record store can run into the face of the King. A carpet with his image adorns the floor. When in doubt, Elvis fans walk past left and right and take a look or two at the art gallery. In one photo, we can see the singer wearing a Mautz-style coat – an ironic tribute to the artist. Another picture frame covers the cover of Rolling Stone magazine with a cover story about Queen written by music journalist Simone Mautz. By his own admission, he has been with this British rock band for decades.

Elvis Monopoly for 60 euros

“I’m not an Elvis fan, I’m a fan of being a fan,” he said of himself. But why open a store that sells Elvis records and all kinds of memorabilia, from ten hundred collector cards to Elvis Monopoly for 60 euros and Matchbox models of cars imported from the USA that King once drove? Mautz: “When I visit a city, I come to see if there is a record store.”

For a long time, Bad Nauheim did not have such a business. And since the city is decorated with Elvis Aaron Presley, for example with the sculpture on the US bridge, the focus is clear. But Mautz made it a point not to run an Elvis store. It also sells records from indie bands and t-shirts from all kinds of bands and musicians, small sizes included.

However, the store even invites Presley fans to browse. Among other things, you will find a so-called EP, a mini-LP, with four songs and a singer in front of the castle door at home. This rarity costs 35 euros. Special features are also Japanese editions of singles for 18 to 35 euros each. Custom history discs are available for a few bucks.

Anyone interested can listen to the discs on the record player while sitting in the armchair that belonged to Mautz’s great-grandparents and which has been restored. If you want to buy something to read, you can get copies of “Elvis monthly” from Great Britain for each fiver or an A4 magazine with copies of documents related to the King, such as his army ID card. The special gems are the pop-up books that Mautz brought from America. Price: 65 euros.

The wallpaper is reminiscent of the “Jungle Room” at Graceland

In accordance with the rarities, the shop decorated with love – the wallpaper is reminiscent of the “Jungle room” in Elvis’ Graceland Villa – makes it rare: Mautz only opens the doors once a month, later in September 28th Then there will be an Elvis tour for guests in town again.

Villa Hansa Schall Platten, Luisenstraße 6, Bad Nauheim, is always open on the last Saturday of each month. Next dates: September 28th, October 26th, November 16th, from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. On Instagram under vlahansa_schall Platten.
