Ariosto Otero’s mural opens to the public at City Hall

After seven years without public access, the capital government enabled access to the work “The Awakening of Mexico“, from the muralist Ariosto Oteroin the old City Hall.

This is a mural made by the Mexican artist in the Murals Hall from the local government headquarters, access to which remained restricted since 2017.

“In 2017, the teacher Ariosto Otero finished this mural that we inaugurated today and that we have here with us. The teacher told us that his mural was imprisoned and that it was the worst fate it could have had because it was not known, it could not be visited, it had been postponed,” explained the person in charge of the office. Ministry of Culture, Argel Gomez Concheiro.

At a conference, the head of government, Marti Batres He described the work as a reflection of the history of the Mexican people, their sufferings, struggles, creations and achievements.

“This inauguration-opening takes place in a context in which the Government of the Republic has strongly pushed for the rescue of our historical memory, the greatness of our culture, and has strongly promoted what we can understand as the search and rescue of Mexicanness,” he said.

After its inauguration, the local Culture Secretariat will define the times and days in which it can be visited as part of the “Museum Nights” at City Hall.

“Today we inaugurated it and this week we opened it to the public so that people who come to City Hall can also admire it and observe it,” announced the head of government.
