Alex Schlüter has been presenting the Champions League on Prime Video since this season. His predecessor Sebastian Hellmann is still competing in the premier league.

Anyone who regularly follows the Bundesliga will be familiar with the face of Sebastian Hellmann. Every Saturday, the 56-year-old presents the top game on Sky and, together with Lothar Matthäus and Julia Simić or Tabea Kemme, accompanies the match at 6:30 p.m.

Hellmann also recently worked in the Champions League, but for a different broadcaster. On Prime Video, he hosted the top match every Tuesday and analyzed matches in the premier class with Matthias Sammer, Josephine Henning, Mario Gomez and Miroslav Klose, among others.

Since this season, however, Hellmann has been out of Prime. Alex Schlüter, one of the best-known faces at streaming service DAZN for years, took his place and now hosts the Champions League evenings at Prime. One reason for the change is evident: Prime wanted someone who would not be too closely associated with competitor Sky. Hellmann, who has been with Sky (formerly Premiere) since 1999, has worked for the pay-TV broadcaster for 25 years.

It is therefore not surprising that Hellmann can now be seen on the microphone for Sky again in the Champions League – but not in Germany. While DAZN and Prime Video share the rights here, Sky is still allowed to broadcast a number of games in Austria.

Last Tuesday, Hellmann reported from Munich’s Allianz Arena and led Sky Austria through the match between FC Bayern and Dinamo Zagreb (9:2). By his side, by the way: Lothar Matthäus.

At the end of July, Sky Austria announced Hellmann as the new presenter. However, the fact that German experts or commentators are involved in Austria is nothing new. Dietmar Hamann and Kai Dittmann, for example, have already worked for the partner broadcaster in recent years.
