European banks are under pressure

The world’s major banks are doing well. This is suggested by the results of a semi-annual study by management consultancy EY of the balance sheets of the ten largest financial institutions in Europe and the USA. The net profit in the first half of 2024 reached the second highest value in the last decade. At around 50 billion euros, the net profit in Europe is significantly below the 72 billion euros in the same period last year. But at the moment this is due to the higher net profit for UBS Swiss.
