A consultative meeting of the Arab League Council at the level of foreign ministers was held on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York..

The meeting, which was chaired by Yemeni Foreign Minister Shaye Mohsen Al-Zindani, discussed “developments in the situation surrounding the brutal war waged by Israel on the Gaza Strip, as well as the dangerous Israeli escalation against Lebanon.”

Arab foreign ministers warned of a “comprehensive regional war,” holding Israel responsible for the escalation in the region.

The Arab ministers agreed to coordinate with the member states of the Islamic group in the coming days, with the aim of sending a clear message to the international community regarding the immediate cessation of the Israeli war of aggression.

The Arab foreign ministers stressed “full solidarity with Lebanon, its government and people, and strong condemnation of the escalating Israeli aggression against it, especially the attacks on Monday, which led to the killing of 357 people, in addition to injuring 1,250 others in one day.”

The Arab foreign ministers stressed their “full support for Lebanon in the face of aggression, holding Israel responsible for this dangerous escalation,” and warned of “the repercussions of launching a large-scale aggression against Lebanon in light of recent developments, which could lead to the outbreak of a comprehensive regional war and threaten the security and stability of the entire region.”

In this context, the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, condemned “in the strongest terms the extensive Israeli raids and operations against Lebanon,” and considered them “a dangerous escalation and a blatant attack on Lebanese sovereignty, threatening to explode the regional situation in a way that will have painful consequences for everyone.”

The spokesman for the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Jamal Rushdi, said, “Abu Al-Gheit called on the world, especially the major influential powers, to assume their responsibilities towards stopping this disastrous slide towards regional war that the Israeli leadership is pushing towards for personal goals and political ends.”

Aboul Gheit called on the “Security Council to exercise its role and assume its responsibilities towards preserving international peace and security,” stressing that “it is necessary to act now to stop this Israeli escalation, as the Gaza tragedy cannot be repeated in Lebanon.”

In addition, Egypt, Jordan and Iraq confirmed today, Wednesday, that “stopping the escalation in the region begins with stopping the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.”

In a joint statement on the occasion of the meeting of the foreign ministers of Egypt, Jordan and Iraq, on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the ministers condemned the Israeli aggression on Lebanon, stressing that “Israel is pushing the region into a comprehensive war.”

The three ministers called on “the international community and the Security Council to assume their relevant responsibilities to stop the war,” noting that “Israel bears full responsibility for this deterioration, which will have serious consequences for the entire region.”

In a related context, the annual meetings of the United Nations were held yesterday, Tuesday, in New York, with the attendance of leaders and heads of delegations of countries around the world.

He said Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani“The aggression that the Palestinian people in Gaza are being subjected to is the most barbaric and ferocious,” he added, “The international community bears the consequences of what is happening to the brotherly Palestinian people who are being subjected to a war of extermination.”

He added: “Stop the aggression on Gaza and stop the war on Lebanon,” noting that “blowing up wireless communications in Lebanon is a major crime.”

In turn, he said King Abdullah II of Jordan“We are going through the most dangerous phase the world has ever witnessed, and crises are ravaging our international community,” he added, “The international community has chosen the easier path by accepting Israel’s occupation of Palestine, which is a futile situation, and the Gaza war must end.”

He said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan“The only reason for Israel’s aggression against the Palestinian people is the unlimited support it receives,” he added, “It is the United Nations, its humanitarian values, and the principles of the West that are being killed in Gaza, not just children.”

“We stand with the Lebanese people and the Lebanese state that is being attacked and we will stand with those who have the right to the end,” Erdogan added, noting that “the terrorist cyber attacks that Lebanon was subjected to show that technology can be turned into a deadly weapon, and the cyber terrorism that struck Lebanon last week proves the danger of misusing technology and artificial intelligence,” saying: “Israel must be punished for its crimes and must pay the price for the damage it has caused.”

He said Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva“I warn of the danger of the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip spreading to Lebanon,” he added, “The conflict in the Gaza Strip is spreading to Lebanon in a ‘dangerous manner’, and the ceasefire must be stopped.”

He said UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres:“The peoples of the world and Lebanon cannot bear for Lebanon to turn into a new Gaza,” he added, “Lebanon is on the brink of disaster and the situation there is worrying.”

“The world is going through a hurricane and a very important change, and the challenges it faces are unprecedented, and there is an urgent need for global solutions, and the situation in Gaza is like a never-ending nightmare, and threatens to engulf the entire region, and there is no justification for Hamas’s attack on October 7, nor is there any justification for the collective punishment of the Palestinian people,” he added, noting that “the speed and scale of death and destruction in Gaza has reached unprecedented levels.”
