There are no dependent candidates in the lists of the Left Unity. This was stated by the acting chairman of the BSP, Atanas Zafirov, in “The Day Begins” on BNT. According to him, for the first time, the lists for the elections are fully in line with the expectations of the people in each place.
He explained that the formation of a large left-wing union was not easy, but the positives outweighed the difficulties.
“From the left, we learned our lesson. Now is the time to give left-wing people new hope and an alternative,” commented the acting chairman of the BSP, Atanas Zafirov.
He refuted the information that in some places there are people who disagree with the arrangement of the lists, and emphasized that the BSP complied 100% with the expectations of the local structures regarding the leaders and the formation of the lists.
“Out of 31 constituencies, we have new list leaders in 21. Most of them are newcomers to politics, which is a guarantee of success. There are no official lists,” said Zafirov.
I.F. the chairman of the BSP also commented on those who left the Left Unification party MIR and Simeon Slavchev because foreign influence was felt:
“I wish them success. They have serious electoral weight. I am sure they will do great and independently in the elections. I will just say that the day before the elections, the talks with them went in a completely different way. On the other hand, two parties “Agricultural Union-Alexander Stamboliyski” and one social democratic formation plus 10 more non-governmental organizations from the left sector will join the union this week,” announced Zafirov.
He rejected allegations of behind-the-scenes involvement in the left in relation to Delyan Peevski.
“Anyone can make any claim, but let them state the grounds for it. The support is repeated that Kiril Dobrev was somehow dependent on Peevski. Do you know where Kiril Dobrev will lead the list – in Blagoevgrad. And who keeps the DPS list there? Delyan Peevski. How do you imagine this job,” explained Zafirov.
There was tension between the BSP and the presidential institution, admitted I.F. the chairman. According to him, the fruitless confrontation with the president in recent years has not led to anything.
