“The Avenger” is the new series on Alpha that began its journey on the evening of Monday, September 23, with an addictive double episode. Markos, played by Dimitris Lalos, seeks revenge for the betrayal of his best friend. A betrayal that cost him everything – the years he spent in a dungeon in Morocco, condemned for a crime he did not commit, the love of Elli, the embrace of his father who died under unclear circumstances.
The series started with a powerful flashback to the events that preceded it.
Athens, 2005: Markos, portrayed in his youth by Dimitris Kitsos, is in love with Elli. In her, he has found the woman of his life, the one with whom he will live his own happy ending.
Unfortunately, the same girl is also loved by his best friend, Alexis, played in his youth by Kostas Nikouli. Alexis watches with a heavy heart as Elli is “swept away” by her love for Markos, and his jealousy swells day by day.
At the same time, Markos’s father, prosecutor Moraitis, is investigating a dark murder case. The perpetrator of the crime, as we will learn later, is Alexis’s father, Leonidas.
Markos and Alexis set off for a trip to Morocco, unaware of what fate has in store for them. As they uncover the mysteries of Marrakech, Markos’s father is killed, and Leonidas convinces his son to set a deadly trap for his friend. Markos is framed for a crime he did not commit and spends the next 18 years in a cell.
However, a fire that breaks out in the prison will give him the opportunity to make a fresh start. The authorities consider him dead, yet another charred corpse among those left behind by the flames, and he, with a new face, returns to Greece seeking answers to the questions that haunt him.
Athens, 2024: Upon his return to Greece, Markos confronts a nightmarish reality. Elli is now Alexis’s wife, who has transformed into a ruthless man, a faithful copy of his father, and they all enjoy the money and power they have gained by stepping over corpses.
Yet, in the face of Markos, who resembles nothing of the innocent twenty-year-old who took his first steps into adulthood full of dreams and enthusiasm, Alexis and Leonidas will find a deadly adversary.
Markos has returned to deliver Justice to the people who built their lives on the ruins of others’ lives and will be relentless.
“The Avenger” at the top of the trends on X
“The Avenger” captured viewers’ interest from the very first moment, as evidenced by the reactions on social media. The combination of suspense, beloved actors, and exterior shooting in Morocco made many switch back to Alpha’s frequency, and the praising comments poured in, particularly for Kostas Nikouli. Let’s remember that Kostas Nikouli portrayed Petris in “Sasmos,” who died unjustly for the murder committed by Mathios.
