“The Avenger” is the new series from Alpha that began its journey on the night of Monday, September 23, with an addictive double episode. Markos, played by Dimitris Lalos, seeks revenge for the betrayal of his best friend. A betrayal that cost him everything – the years he spent in a dungeon in Morocco, condemned for a crime he did not commit, the love of Elli, the embrace of his father who died under unclear circumstances.
The series started with a strong flashback to the events that preceded it.
Athens, 2005: Markos, portrayed at a young age by Dimitris Kitos, is in love with Elli. In her, he has found the woman of his life, the one with whom he will live their own happy ending.
Unfortunately, the same girl has also fallen in love with his best friend, Alexis, played at a young age by Konstantinos Nikouli. Alexis watches with a heavy heart as Elli gets “swept away” by her love for Markos, and his jealousy grows day by day.
At the same time, Markos’ father, Prosecutor Moraitis, is investigating a dark murder case. The perpetrator of the crime, as we will learn later, is Alexis’ father, Leonidas.
Markos and Alexis set off on a journey to Morocco, unaware of what fate has in store for them. As they discover the mysteries of Marrakech, Markos’ father is killed, and Leonidas convinces his son to set a deadly trap for his friend. Markos is framed for a crime he did not commit and spends the next 18 years in a cell.
However, a fire that breaks out in the prison gives him the opportunity to make a fresh start. The authorities believe he is dead, another charred corpse among those left behind by the flames, and he, with a new face, returns to Greece seeking answers to the questions that haunt him.
Athens, 2024: Upon his return to Greece, Markos faces a nightmarish reality. Elli is now Alexis’ wife, who has transformed into a ruthless man, a faithful copy of his father, and together they enjoy the money and power they acquired by stepping over corpses.
However, in Markos’ face, which bears no resemblance to the innocent twenty-year-old who took his first steps into adulthood filled with dreams and enthusiasm, Alexis and Leonidas will find a deadly adversary.
Markos has returned to deliver Justice to those who built their lives on the ruins of others’ lives and will be relentless.
“The Avenger” tops the trends on X
“The Avenger” captured the interest of viewers from the very beginning, as evidenced by the reactions on social media. The combination of suspense, beloved actors, and external filming in Morocco led many to tune back into Alpha, and the praise poured in, especially for Konstantinos Nikouli. Let’s remember that Konstantinos Nikouli played Petros in “Sasmos,” who died unjustly for the murder committed by Mathios.
