We are very happy because we got the reward of our hard work. Thanks also to those who are hoping that ‘Lapata Ladies’ will win the hearts of the Academy (Oscar) members.”

Like Aamir, director Kiran Rao is very excited. He said, ‘I am really very happy. Many good movies have been made in this year. We did not expect this movie to go to the Oscars. Now a large audience is getting a chance to watch the movie. Many thanks to the audience for giving so much love.’

Kiran made his directorial debut in 2011 with the movie ‘Dhobi Ghat’. Then more than 13 years passed. After a long break, Kiran returned to the silver screen as a director with the movie ‘Lapata Ladies’. And this producer made a fuss.

The story of the movie ‘Lapata Ladies’ starts from a remote village called Nirmal Pradesh. A couple of newlyweds travel on a crowded train. All brides wear red saris and ornaments. It is difficult to recognize these brides with long veils. For brides in this region to show their faces to men other than their husbands means ultimate social degradation. So no one is afraid to remove the veil.

The passengers of this train are the newlyweds Deepak Kumar and Phul Kumari. In the middle of the night, Deepak wakes up and takes someone else’s wife off the train, mistaking it for his wife. Obstacles caused by the veil. The easy-going, voluptuous Phul Kumari sleeps peacefully on the train. On the other hand, Deepak takes Jaya home as his wife. Basically, the story starts from here.

The story of this movie basically revolves around these three characters. Prathab Srivastava played the role of Deepak, Neethanshi Goel played the role of Phul Kumari and Pratibha Rangta played the role of Jaya. These three are almost unknown faces. But they have caught the attention of the audience.
