Exhibition at Argentine Congress sheds light on ‘Authentic Morocco’
Buenos Aires – “Authentic Morocco” is the theme of an exhibition of Moroccan paintings, photographs and crafts that the Argentine Congress will host starting this Thursday, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Throne Festival.
The inauguration of the exhibition coincides with the installation on the same day at the Congress of the Morocco/Argentina parliamentary friendship group, chaired by MP Emilia Orozco. Deployed over a large area across the central halls of the Congress, the exhibition is an invitation to the public to undertake a journey through the jewels of Moroccan culture and craftsmanship. Transcending linguistic and cultural barriers, the items on display reveal an authentic culture that has made Morocco the melting pot of a thousand-year-old civilization with multiple tributaries: African, Amazigh, Hebrew, Arab, Muslim, Mediterranean, Atlantic and Saharan. The exhibition will display until August 16 some twenty paintings by Moroccan painters and twenty photographs taken by seven Argentinian photographers during a 15-day journey through ten Moroccan cities. The handicrafts that aroused great enthusiasm among the guests included, among others, caftans, djellabas, babouches, terracotta tagines, silverware, traditional carpets and the famous Moroccan tea ceremony assortment. The dishes of the rich Moroccan gastronomy offered on the occasion of this exhibition were also at the center of attention of the guests. The Ambassador of Morocco to Argentina, Fares Yassir, stressed that this exhibition represents a small representative sample of the vast Moroccan culture, whose objective is to allow the Argentine public to have a taste of an authentic country whose roots go deep into history. The President of the Morocco-Argentina Friendship Group, Emilia Orozco, expressed her joy at seeing such cultural wealth exhibited in the Congress, recalling with emotion her recent stay in Morocco which revealed to her the values of hospitality of the Moroccan people. The inauguration of this exhibition took place in the presence of numerous deputies, members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Argentina, community actors and journalists.
