France’s new government surrounded by problems / Day

by times news cr

The new French government formed at the weekend, 11 weeks after the parliamentary elections, which met for its first session on Monday, has already faced not only the threat of the left opposition to instigate a vote of no confidence in the National Assembly, but also the need to quickly solve a number of important problems that threaten the life of society, reports France24.com.

Prime Minister Michel Barnier has named the adoption of the new state budget and limiting migration as the government’s main priorities in the short term. France has already earned a reprimand from the European Commission for its huge state budget deficit, which, according to forecasts, could reach 6.2% of the gross domestic product next year if steps are not taken to reduce it. On the other hand, the new Minister of the Interior, Bruno Retaijo, has announced that his main priority will be to restore order – both on the streets and on the country’s borders.

M. Barnier will have his first test in the parliament on October 1, when he has to deliver a speech about the government’s plans in the National Assembly. The Socialist Party has already announced that it will try to get a vote of no confidence in the new government right after the Prime Minister’s speech.

The complex making

The left-wing alliance won the most votes in the extraordinary parliamentary elections held in July New People’s Front (NFP), but not enough to win an overall majority in the distribution of seats. On the other hand, the National Union represented by far-right political veteran Marine Le Pen became the party with the largest representation in the National Assembly.
