Russia is actively using artificial intelligence to create content aimed at influencing the upcoming US presidential election

Reuters reports this.

According to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), Moscow leads all foreign countries in the volume of AI content generated for such purposes.

According to an anonymous ODNI official, Russia is waging a massive campaign to support Donald Trump while discrediting his opponents, including Vice President Kamala Harris and the Democratic Party. Among the methods of influence are the spread of conspiracy theories created using generative AI, which is capable of creating text, images and videos that imitate human work.

While the ODNI spokesman did not specify the specific scope of this content, he emphasized that Russia has a deep understanding of the American elections and is adept at targeting its information operations with precision. As an example, he cited the case of a video where Harris is accused of fleeing the scene of an accident – as it turned out, it was staged, but not created by AI.

In addition, Russia continues to use social media with advanced AI tools to promote pro-Kremlin messages. Unlike Russia, China, although actively working with AI, is focusing its efforts on improving its international image rather than interfering in US elections.

Previously, Cursor reported that Harris agreed to CNN’s proposal for a debate.

At the end of the last debate, both candidates declared victory.
