At precisely 5:00 p.m. today, the 160-meter-high chimney of the old cement production plant at the “Devnia Cement” company was destroyed with a controlled explosion.
The demolition of the reinforced concrete body was entrusted to a specialized company. From there, they did not specify the amount and type of the explosion, explaining that the information is confidential.
An hour before the chimney blew up, the area was cordoned off. According to the preliminary plan, the chimney fell on a 3-meter sand cushion, which absorbed the vibrations. The total mass of the debris is about 4 thousand tons, writes BNT.
They blew up a reinforced concrete chimney with a height of 160 meters, which is located on the site of “Devnia Cement”. The operation was carried out by a company holding a permit for special blasting works, issued by the “Labor Inspection” Directorate – Varna. A 3-meter sand cushion has been laid in the direction to soften the impact of the fall, the Municipality of Devnya specified.
