The Council of the European Union has adopted an aid measure within the framework of the European Peace Support Mechanism worth 13 million euros in order to strengthen the capacity and capabilities of the army of the Republic of North Macedonia, reports the EU Delegation in Skopje, writes BTA.

The measure will strengthen the country’s capacity in terms of its participation in the operations and missions of the EU’s Common Security and Defense Policy and other international missions. The decision further illustrates the strengthened connection with North Macedonia in the field of security and defense.

The assistance measure will include support for technologies related to surveillance and intelligence, electronic warfare and signals intelligence, logistics and engineering equipment, and communication and information systems.

The European Peace Support Mechanism was established in March 2021 to finance actions under the Common Foreign and Security Policy to prevent conflicts, preserve peace and strengthen international security and stability. It allows the EU to finance actions aimed at strengthening the capacity of third countries and regional and international organizations related to military and defense matters.
