The best Bulgarian judge, Georgi Kabakov, who is rightly (less) or not regularly reviled in our country, performed again at a solid level in the continental tournaments.

The native of Plovdiv was the head referee of the derby from the first round of the Europa League “Roma” – “Athletic” (Bilbao), which is hardly accidental.

In front of 70,634 spectators at the Olimpico stadium in the Italian capital, Kabakov performed at a level in the 1:1 draw.

The arbitrator intervened authoritatively, and the same applies to his assistants Martin Margaritov and Diyan Valkov. Radoslav Gidzenov was the 4th referee, and Dragomir Draganov was responsible for the video arbitration system.

Kabakov showed 2 yellow cards for “Roma” players, and 4 – for players of the guests.

The latest was for one of Spain’s heroes in winning the European title this summer, Nico Williams.

Ukrainian Artyom Dovbyk opened the scoring for the hosts in the 32nd minute, and Aitor Paredes equalized 5 minutes before the end of regular time for the Basque guests.

The Spanish team is #2 in predictions for the winner of the second most powerful European tournament with 10.9 percent, given by the statistics platform Opta.

“Roma” is 5th with 8.2 percent.
