Jatiya Party Chairman Golam Mohammad Quader claimed that he was in favor of the anti-discrimination student movement from the beginning to the end. He made this claim in an exchange meeting at the Jatiya Party Chairman’s office auditorium on Thursday (September 26).

Convener of the National Professional Council Dr. Jatiya Party Chairman Golam Mohammad Quader was the chief guest under the chairmanship of Mustafizur Rahman Akash and member secretary Rakibul Hasan.

He said, we were in favor of the anti-discrimination student movement from the beginning. At the very beginning of the movement, on July 3, I spoke in the National Parliament in favor of the anti-discrimination movement. We have said in parliament and on the streets that the students’ movement is very logical. When students were fired upon by the government, we protested. We have called the students who gave life as the heroic liberation army of the nation.

He further said, when the coordinators were detained at the DB office, we demanded their release. I protested the injustice against the students. We have given full support to the anti-discrimination student movement by holding a joint meeting of Jatiya Party. Under my direction, the National Student Society was on the streets with the anti-discrimination student movement. In Rangpur, our boys have been harassed in cases due to their participation in the anti-discrimination movement. Our leaders and activists were arrested and imprisoned in Rangpur.

As a politician, I first visited the grave of martyr Abu Saeed in Rangpur. I went to Abu Saeed’s family and expressed my condolences. Jatiya Party leaders and activists were always with the anti-discrimination student movement. Jatiya Party has always been a pro-people party. Kader also said that Jatiya Party will continue to stand for the people in the future.

The chairman of the party said, “Our children have led the mass uprising of the students.” They ensured the downfall of dictatorship Hasina to get chest in front of bullets. Even after so much killing and torture, our children did not move away from the movement. We will not let our children’s sacrifice go to waste. Everyone has to work towards the goal that the students have given their lives to achieve.

Bangladesh’s governance system has made Sheikh Hasina a monster, said GM Kader, “Our constitution gives unlimited power to the government.” Quoting famous historian Lord Eton, power can lead to corruption. Infinite power makes men absolutely corrupt.’ Because of this, a political party can turn into a monster even with the absolute support of the people in a good election.

He said, almost hundred percent of the country’s executive department, legislative assembly, judicial department are in the hands of the head of government. Apart from this, the constitutional posts are also in the hands of the head of government. Government is not accountable to anyone. That is why any government in Bangladesh can become a monster. The people of the country are hoping that the current interim government will deliver a good election. We want necessary reforms in all areas including the constitution before this good election. We want no government to become a monster after good elections.

Jatiya Party Secretary General Md. Mujibul Haque Chunnu, Presidium Member Sherifa Quader, Monirul Islam Milan, Chairman’s Adviser Rafiqul Alam Salim, Zahid Hasan, Organizing Secretary MA Hannan.
