“We, the former ministers of health, join to remember the importance of state medical assistance”

Ne, former ministers of health, from different schools of thought, we joined together to commemorate the importance of maintaining state medical aid (AME).

AME does not encourage immigration to our country, which would be at the expense of France. It is a fantasy against the facts, clearly established again in two strict reports produced in 2019 and 2023.

AME does not involve comfort treatment, it is possible to cause migration whose causes are obviously very different and complicated. The program is limited to the level of adequate treatment, already revised in 2019 following the recommendations of the report, which allows the prospective treatment of pathologies whose damage has ten returns.

Weakening AME means exposing our health system to increased pressure from later and therefore more important and expensive care.

A public health risk

Restricting the conditions of access to AME will in fact affect the opportunities to consult later, with a deteriorating health condition, and therefore requiring more serious care. Change in care is a trap for our hospitals and our public finances. You must remember: beneficiary care costs seven times more in the hospital than local medicine. AME is also a social benefit next to Health Insurance with the highest degree of control, and is the subject of particular attention.

Typically, weakening AME means withdrawing from a prevention site, either specifically vaccination or screening. In fact, such a reduction creates a risk for the public health of all our citizens, especially epidemics. In the same preaching area, some people’s health affects that of others.
