Warning of heavy rain in many parts of the state

A yellow alert has been issued in view of heavy rains, especially in the north-eastern, north-western and south-eastern parts. Apart from this, there is also a possibility of thunderstorm at some places. The sky will be cloudy in Ranchi in the afternoon and there may be light rain at some places. A warning of heavy rain has also been issued in Santal Pargana on Friday.

Rain may hamper Durga Puja

The weather is likely to clear in Ranchi and surrounding areas from Saturday. However, many areas will remain cloudy. The Meteorological Department has predicted the formation of a low pressure area again in the Bay of Bengal from October 2, due to which there may be rain in Jharkhand from October 3 to October 7. Due to this, there is a possibility of disruption in Durga Puja programs.

Higher than normal rainfall figures

According to the data of the Meteorological Department, from June 1, 2024 to September 26, 2024, Jharkhand has received one percent less rainfall than normal. The normal rainfall is 999.7 mm, whereas 990.5 mm rainfall has been recorded during this period. The normal rainfall in Ranchi is 1013.9 mm, but so far this year it has received 1202.2 mm of rainfall, which is 19 percent more than normal. The least rainfall has occurred in Pakur district, where 49 percent less rainfall has been recorded.
