3 thousand 214 mosquito workers are working in all city corporations and vulnerable municipalities of the local government department to implement mosquito eradication campaign to combat dengue this season.

This information was informed in a press release from the local government department on Tuesday.

It is said that 10 teams were formed in an emergency meeting of the local government department to deal with the ongoing dengue situation. Those who are implementing, coordinating and closely supervising the mosquito eradication program in 12 city corporations of the country including Dhaka South and North City Corporation and risk areas Savar, Dohar, Tarab, Rupganj and other municipalities.

According to the information provided by them, 18 thousand 611 places have been visited across the country. Among the places visited, 682 city corporation areas and 77 municipalities have been identified as vulnerable areas and measures have been taken. Besides, mosquito breeding grounds have been destroyed and larvicide sprayed at 9,365 places. 41 warning notices were issued in Chittagong City Corporation and 5 in Dhaka North City due to water collected in broken drum containers, under-construction buildings, flower tubs and lift pits.
