According to the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the head of the department emphasized at the event accompanying the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) that humanity today lives in an age of danger, that the threat of terrorism increase. and there are many armed conflicts in the world, so the peaceful coexistence between nationalities and religions is now more important than ever.

He explained that the important task of the UN is to promote the peaceful coexistence of different civilizations, nationalities and different religions.

“After all, if civilizations live side by side in peace, the number of future armed conflicts can be reduced,” he said.

“I think that Hungary gives an excellent example here, because the government gives all the support to the national communities living in Hungary so that they can keep their identity and live there (…) We provide the cultural conditions, administrative and educational requirements are available. ” he declared.

In his previous statement in this regard, Péter Szijjártó expressed his regret that this is not the case everywhere, and that national minorities are living under oppression in many parts of the world.

We don’t even have to go far, since the rights of national communities have been systematically destroyed in Ukraine over the past nine years for various reasons. And despite all the promises, the story before 2015 has not been brought back to the present day

– he emphasized.

He said that this issue will be prominently on the agenda of the meeting he plans with his counterpart in Ukraine next Monday.

In the end, the minister asked Hungary to set a good example in the peaceful coexistence of religious communities. “Budapest always sets a good example, because the largest Catholic cathedral in Central Europe and one of the largest synagogues in Europe are almost within walking distance of each other,” he said.

“In Hungary, visitors do not have to face armed security guards at Jewish celebrations or around synagogues. Simply put, in Hungary, religious communities can live and practice their religion completely freely, they can live in peace and tranquility,” he said.

We are proud that religious communities live peacefully side by side in Hungary, and that minorities are given everything to maintain their identity.
