Parliamentary promises to resolve the Speedball Federation’s allocations crisis before the start of the World Championship

The Central Iraqi Speedball Federation announced that it had received promises from the Parliamentary Youth and Sports Committee to seek to resolve the federation’s financial allocations crisis.

Firas Radi Al-Khafaji, head of the sports federation, told the (INA), today, Wednesday, that he “received a promise from the rapporteur of the House of Representatives and member of the Parliamentary Youth and Sports Committee, Bayda Khader Behnam, to intervene to resolve the crisis of the delayed release of financial allocations to sports federations by the Ministry of Finance.” He added, “The rapporteur of the House of Representatives stressed the need to hold an urgent meeting for the parties concerned to discuss ways to provide financial liquidity to the Speedball Federation to ensure the participation of the Iraqi national team in the World Championship scheduled to be held in Egypt next month.”
Al-Khafaji pointed out that “President of the National Olympic Committee, Aqeel Muften, also promised to make the utmost efforts possible to overcome obstacles facing non-Olympic sports federations, including the Speedball Federation.”
It is noteworthy that the Iraqi national speedball team is awaiting an important participation in the 35th World Championship, which is scheduled to be held in the Arab Republic of Egypt at the end of next October.
