“The Kingdom of Morocco has the potential to make even more progress in the years to come,” said Mr. Dione, in a statement to the press following his meeting with the Minister of Economy and Finance, Nadia Fettah.
Thus, he reiterated the World Bank’s commitment to further cooperation with Morocco to support its priorities and ensure sustainable jobs for the benefit of the Moroccan people, stressing that the WB’s partnership with the Moroccan government is intended to be “rich, fruitful and long-term.
Discussions between Mr. Dione and Ms. Fettah focused on the World Bank’s support for Morocco’s development trajectory and its ambitious reform program, particularly in the areas of financial and digital inclusion, social protection and of health.
They were also an opportunity to follow up on important discussions with Morocco held during the Annual Meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund in Marrakech in October 2023.
This meeting was marked by the signing of the “Rapid Response Option” (RRO) agreement, which marks an important milestone in the Kingdom’s ability to respond quickly to emergencies and provide crucial support to its citizens.
Ms. Fettah’s meeting with Mr. Dione, who is visiting Morocco from May 18 to 21, is part of strengthening the WB’s strong and long-standing partnership with the Kingdom.
This is Mr. Dione’s first official visit to Morocco since he took office as Vice President for the MENA Region on April 16, 2024.
