jpnn.comJAKARTA – Executive Director of the Segara Research Institute Piter Abdullah Redjalam assesses that Health Law No.17 of 2023 is an important milestone in realizing the mandate of the 1945 Constitution, ensuring the presence of the state in health regulation in Indonesia.

PP No.28 of 2024 states that the Central Government and Regional Governments are responsible for planning, organizing, organizing, fostering and supervising the implementation of health efforts that are quality, safe, efficient, equitable and affordable for the community.

“These health efforts are aimed at realizing the highest possible level of health for the community. We appreciate the government’s good intentions,” said Piter.

“However, the Health Law still leaves a number of big challenges, especially in following up all the material contained in the Health Law into Government Regulations and other implementing regulations,” he continued.

Piter gave several examples of challenges.

“On the one hand, the PP provides legal certainty. “However, on the other hand, this PP has the potential to create confusion which could impact public education efforts as well as the economy,” said Piter.

According to him, the Health Law and PP number 28 provide legal certainty for the business world involved in the health sector.

Business people can refocus on developing their business and meeting consumer needs because they feel they have clear boundaries or fences, so they do not leave the legal corridor.
