From October 1 /Tuesday/ a direct high-speed train between Ruse and Sofia departs. This became possible after the intervention of the regional governor of Ruse Dragomir Draganov, who from the beginning of his mandate insisted on an effective solution to the problem of the rapid and comfortable movement of the residents of the region to the capital, reported the regional administration in Ruse.

Until now, it was necessary to transfer at Gorna Oryahovitsa station. The most affected by the inconvenience of loading and unloading luggage when changing trains were mothers with children, the elderly and the disabled. The regional governor received definite support from the mayors of the municipalities in Ruse, as well as from the Minister of Transport and Communications Krasimira Stoyanova, her deputy Ruse native Dimitar Nedyalkov and relevant deputy minister Biser Minchev, MEP Andrey Novakov and the Ruse people’s representatives in the 50th National Assembly.

A reference on the BDZ website shows that the train will depart from the central station in Ruse at 06:17 and arrive in Sofia-North at 12:15. Due to the repair of the tracks of the central railway station in the capital, whoever wishes will be able to catch a train from Sofia-North to the central station of Sofia at 12.32, and at the central station he will arrive five minutes later, i.e. 12:37 p.m. A convenient public transport is provided by the capital municipality, which allows from the Sofia-North station to the center of the capital. On the way back, the train will depart at 2:35 p.m. from Sofia Central Station and arrive in Ruse at 9:53 p.m., without the need for any transfer.

Draganov’s insistence on the release of the so-called “Blue Danube”, which is emblematic for the people of Ruse, was the result of numerous inquiries from the residents of Ruse. Again, at the suggestion of Draganov, the train will be composed with the newly delivered wagons from Germany.

The regional governor appeals to the residents of the region to choose this mode of transportation, because it is cheaper, ecological and convenient. BDZ envisages a test period of train movement until the middle of December this year. If enough passengers decide to use it, it will continue to run.
