Al-Shorta and Newroz won, and Dohuk tied with Al-Naft in the Iraq Stars League

/ Al-Shorta and Newroz teams achieved victory over their rivals, while Dohuk and Al-Naft clubs tied, on Friday, in the ninth round of the Iraqi Stars Football League 2023-2024.

The three matches started at two-thirty in the afternoon in Baghdad, Basra and Dohuk.

In the first match, Al-Shorta Club won with a large score of 4-0, and the match took place at Amanat Baghdad Stadium.

The first half ended with Al-Shorta leading with two free goals, which came from Sajjad Jassim in the ninth minute, and Idrissia Niang in the 11th minute.

In the second half, Idrissa Niang added his second personal goal and Al-Shorta’s third goal in 74 minutes, and in the 90+2 minute Al-Shorta scored a fourth goal through Abdelmajid Boubacar.

The second half also witnessed the expulsion of Al-Shorta player Yazan Al-Arab midway through the second half, as well as the expulsion of Al-Hodood player Ali Mohsen eight minutes before the end of the original match time due to intentional roughness.

In the second match, Newroz won against its host Naft Basra, Bentabja, 1-0, and the match took place at Al-Fayhaa Stadium.

The first half ended with Newroz leading with an unanswered goal, which came from a penalty kick successfully executed by Mohamed Sami in the 19th minute.

In the second half, Hossam Jadallah missed a penalty kick for his team, Naft Basra, after it was returned by Newroz goalkeeper Mohamed Rahim in the 55th minute, but the referee of the match, Mohamed Kamel, returned the kick to the player’s lead before the kick was executed, and the Newroz goalkeeper saved it again in the 56th minute.

In the third match, Duhok Club tied with its guest, Al-Naft, 0-0, and the match took place at Duhok Stadium.
