Corinthians is a semifinalist of the Copa Sul-Americana! On the night of this Tuesday (24), at the Neo Química Arena, Timão won against Fortaleza again, this time by 3 to 0, securing their place in the next phase of the continental tournament.
The goals of Timão’s victory were scored by Ángel Romero, Igor Coronado, and Pedro Henrique, all in the second half. In the first leg, at Castelão, Timão had already won 2 to 0, making the aggregate score 5 to 0.

With a positive score from the first game, Timão entered the match with less pressure. In the first half, both teams created little and the highlight was the number of fouls committed.
In the final 45 minutes, Fortaleza started applying pressure and missed an incredible chance with Renato Kayzer. Shortly after, Corinthians opened the scoring with Ángel Romero, who cut past the defender and finished after a good pass from Yuri Alberto. Minutes later, Timão sealed the game with Coronado scoring the second after capitalizing on a rebound from João Ricardo.
In the final moments of the game, Timão increased their lead. Rodrigo Garro found Memphis, who executed a beautiful dribble and simply rolled it to Pedro Henrique to make it three. This was the Dutchman’s first goal participation for Corinthians.
Semifinal
Now qualified, Timão awaits the winner of the match between Racing and Athletico-PR in the next phase. In the first leg, Furacão won 1 to 0, playing at Ligga Arena and has the advantage for the return game.
If Racing advances, Timão will decide the semifinal in Argentina. If Athletico-PR advances, the return leg will take place at Neo Química Arena.

Both teams will play again on Sunday for the 28th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro.
Trying to escape the relegation zone, Corinthians will visit São Paulo, in a match that will take place at Mané Garrincha, in Brasília. The match starts at 16:00 (Brasília time).
On the other side of the table, Fortaleza will host Cuiabá at Arena Castelão, aiming to get closer to the tournament lead. The match will also take place at 16:00.
