Today, Thursday, the State of Law Coalition expressed its astonishment at the issuance of a letter from the Chairman of the Baghdad Provincial Council, which one of the members considered an article. While he indicated that this was not his authority, he called for an emergency session of the Council to be held.
The State of Law coalition said in a statement – received by the (INA): “We were surprised by the issuance of a letter from the Chairman of the Baghdad Provincial Council this day indicating that one of the members of the Council was considered an article about membership due to absences, and we believe that this decision is not within the authority of the Chairman of the Council in accordance with the law.” Governorates No. 21 of 2008 amended and the internal regulations of the Provincial Council.
He added, “Issuing this decision within the period of interrogation of the Speaker of the Council is considered a violation of the law, and we note that the Council and its members have status and respect because the person of the member does not represent himself, but rather represents a large part of our people in Baghdad Governorate, and for this reason we call on the esteemed Council to hold an emergency session.”
