Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense announced on Thursday that they had seen 43 military aircraft and eight Chinese warships around the island in the past 24 hours.

The ministry said in a statement that 34 of these aircraft “crossed the median line and entered the southwest and east of Taiwan’s air defense identification zone.”
She added that these movements occurred within a 24-hour period that ended at 6:00 am on Thursday.
She continued, “We monitor the situation and deal with it as we should.”
This development came shortly after Japanese media announced that a Japanese warship had crossed the Taiwan Strait for the first time on Wednesday, in a move by which Tokyo sought to assert the principle of freedom of navigation in this sea lane over which China asserts its sovereignty. .
China considers the island of Taiwan as an integral part of its territory and affirms that it is ready to return it to its sovereignty, by force if necessary.
