Throne Day celebrated with joy and communion in Paris

The reception offered by HM the King’s ambassador in Paris, Samira Sitaïl and the ambassador, permanent delegate of the Kingdom to UNESCO, Samir Addahre, was enhanced by the presence of several members of the French government, deputies and senators, senior officials, diplomats, managers of large French companies and other personalities from the political, economic, cultural and sporting spheres, as well as the Moroccan community established in France.

In a speech on this occasion, Ms. Sitail said she was “proud” to receive this prestigious assistance during this event celebrating the glorious Throne Day, “an exceptional moment” in the life of Moroccans and the Kingdom.

The ambassador of HM the King welcomed this moment of meeting and communion in Paris which offers the opportunity to celebrate Franco-Moroccan friendship, thanking the many personalities present, including the French ministers of Europe and Affairs Foreign Affairs, Stéphane Séjourné, Interior and Overseas Territories, Gérald Darmanin, Minister Delegate for Europe, Jean Noel Barrot, Minister Delegate in charge of Equality between Women and Men and the Fight against discrimination, Aurore Bergé, the Minister Delegate in charge of local authorities and rurality, Dominique Faure, the Secretary of State to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, in charge of Development and International Partnerships, Chrysoula Zacharopoulou, or even the Director-General of UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay.

The start of the ceremony was marked by the salute of colors to the sound of the national anthems of the two countries, sung by the sopranos Françoise Atlan, Fadwa Taddist and the Mezzo-Soprano Marie-Claude Patout, carrying a universal message of peace and life together.

For Ms. Sitail, this moving performance reflects the atmosphere of “this moment of harmony and unity which embodies the founding spirit of the Moroccan nation, its stability and diversity, as well as its values ​​of peace, openness and living together.

Referring to the particularity of this year’s Throne Day, the ambassador stressed that the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the enthronement of His Majesty King Mohammed VI amounts to celebrating “25 years of consolidation, of building a Morocco modern, socio-economic and territorial development, major infrastructure projects, social reforms and the promotion of human rights, and particularly women’s rights.

“Also on the international level, these are 25 years of commitment to diversification and strengthening of our partnerships, such as that with France,” she said.

Referring to the letter addressed to His Majesty the King by the French President, Mr. Emmanuel Macron who announces “France’s intangible support for Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara” and now considers the autonomy plan as “the only basis for reaching a political solution”, Ms Sitail affirmed that “we are today experiencing a historic stage in this relationship which binds us”.

“It is a strong commitment which marks support for the fair position of the Kingdom of Morocco on respect for its territorial integrity, for the dynamic carried out at the highest level of the State to put an end to the conflict maintained for almost 50 years and an international outpouring of support for the legitimacy of the Moroccan position which extends from the United States to Europe via most Arab, African and American countries. It is a message of coherence which is part of continuity. of France’s clear and constant support for the autonomy initiative since 2007 while today marking an important development,” she said.

And to note that it is “an act in favor of peace since France, as a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, thus strengthens its contribution to international security by promoting a political, just solution and sustainable.

Ms. Sitail said she was convinced that “this important step forward will not only strengthen our already exceptional bilateral relations but will also open the way to unlimited, even unprecedented, possibilities by projecting the relationship into a renewed exceptional partnership.”

For his part, the head of French diplomacy affirmed that “on this special day for Moroccans, on the occasion of the wishes transmitted to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the President of the Republic indicated the direction he wishes to plan in relations with Morocco in all areas. He also defined a course on the Sahara question.

“The present and future of the Sahara fall within the framework of Moroccan sovereignty. These are the words of the President of the Republic and it is the conviction of France,” noted the head of French diplomacy.

“We now call for progress on the basis of the autonomy plan under Moroccan sovereignty which now constitutes for France the only basis for achieving a political, just, lasting and negotiated solution, in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council” , continued Mr. Séjourné.

The French minister also reiterated “the deep and singular friendship that the French people have for the Moroccan people”, seizing this opportunity to “pay deep tribute to His Majesty King Mohammed VI for the progress and important achievements that Morocco has accomplished under His leadership.

During this evening, punctuated by musical performances to the rhythms of the Hassani song and the Dakka Marrakchia, the guests were invited to taste the authentic flavors of the Kingdom, while on a giant screen we saw striking images of the Morocco and the grandiose achievements accomplished by the Kingdom under the leadership of the Sovereign.
