The army said it carried out the precision strike while Hezbollah’s leadership was meeting at its headquarters in the southern Beirut suburb of Dahiya.

“Hassan Nasralla is dead,” announced army press officer Lt. Col. Nadav Shoshani on Platform X.

Another army representative, Captain David Avraham, also confirmed to AFP that the head of Hezbollah had been killed in Friday’s strikes on the Lebanese capital.

Nasrallah has led Hezbollah for more than three decades.

Meanwhile, a source close to Hezbollah said that contacts with the leader of the group have been lost since Friday evening.

The Israeli army struck Hezbollah’s central headquarters under residential buildings in the center of Dahiya on Friday.

The army statement said that the strikes also killed Hezbollah’s southern front commander Ali Karake, as well as an unspecified number of other Hezbollah commanders.

“Hassan Nasrallah, during his 32-year leadership of Hezbollah, was responsible for the murders of many Israeli civilians and soldiers, as well as the planning and execution of thousands of terrorist acts,” the army said in a statement.

“He was responsible for directing and executing terrorist attacks around the world that killed civilians of various nationalities. Nasralla was the main decision-maker and strategic leader of the organization,” the army said.

Meanwhile, Israeli army commander Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi vowed on Saturday to crack down on anyone who threatens Israeli citizens.

“Our range of tools does not end there. The message is simple, anyone who threatens the citizens of Israel – we will know how to get them,” Halevi said.

According to him, the blow to eliminate Nasrallah was prepared for a long time.

“This attack was prepared for a long time, executed with great precision at the right moment, and now we are moving forward, carefully preparing for the next steps,” Halevi said. “Finally, I want to reiterate that we are fully prepared on all our fronts. All forces, including coordination with other organizations, must be very well synchronized and ready.”

“Hezbollah” began shelling Israel a day after the October 7 massacre by “Hamas” in southern Israel, which triggered a war in the Gaza Strip against “Hamas” fighters.

In July, Ismail Haniya, the political leader of Hamas, was killed in an explosion in Tehran.
