Yeongcheon City (Mayor Choi Ki-moon) will hold the ‘Yeongcheon Culture and Arts Festival’, ‘Yeongcheon Bohyeon Mountain Starlight Festival’, ‘Yeongcheon Wine Festa, and Yeongcheon Starlight Korean Beef Roasting Festival’ starting on the 3rd. These festivals provide a variety of things to enjoy for local residents and tourists, and are expected to bring back the romance and memories of fall.

The Yeongcheon Culture and Arts Festival will be held in the Yeongcheon Riverside Park area from the 3rd to the 5th. This festival was created to celebrate the culture and arts of Yeongcheon and to serve as a venue for harmony between local cultural artists and citizens. In particular, this year, in celebration of its 50th anniversary, it was planned as a generation-friendly festival that all generations can enjoy together, incorporating the latest trends that the MZ generation can sympathize with along with various programs for visitors.
Under the slogan ‘Yeongcheon Culture and Arts, 50 Years of Wave’, various programs are held, such as town, town and village folk games, the National Pungmul & Nanta Contest, the National Pumba Festival, and the Wangpyeong Song Festival, as well as exhibitions of local artists’ works and performances of various genres. Experience events will also be prepared to provide visitors with a wealth of entertainment.

Bohyeonsan Starlight Festival, Yeongcheon’s representative festival, will be held in the area of Bohyeonsan Astronomical Science Museum in Yeongcheon from the 4th to the 6th with the theme of ‘Embrace the stars of Yeongcheon, embrace the giant Jupiter.’ Yeongcheon is a city of stars, boasting a beautiful night sky presented by clean nature and abundant astronomical science infrastructure, including Bohyeonsan Observatory, equipped with the largest optical telescope in Korea. This festival is well-received by visitors for its useful content that allows students to learn about the principles of the universe through various scientific experiential activities beyond simply being a festival to enjoy, and has been selected as an excellent festival for six consecutive years in the 2024 Gyeongsangbuk-do designated festival screening.
The main program of the festival is scheduled to be an opening event that includes a performance by invited singer Seok-hoon Lee and a drone light show, and a variety of experience programs such as stargazing while lying down, stargazing, and astronomy science lectures, which are the signature programs of the Bohyeon Mountain Starlight Festival, will be prepared. In addition, during the festival period, a special opening of Bohyeonsan Observatory, which is normally closed to the public, will be held to add to the fun of the festival.
Near the festival site, the Bohyeonsan Dam Suspension Bridge, a representative tourist attraction in Yeongcheon that has been visited by more than 610,000 people since its opening in August last year, and the Bohyeonsan Dam Zipwire, where you can enjoy the skies above Bohyeonsan Dam at 100 km per hour, are also in operation. In particular, the Bohyeonsan Dam Suspension Bridge will be open until 8:30 p.m. during the festival period, providing an opportunity to enjoy the wonderful night view.

The 12th Yeongcheon Wine Festa and Yeongcheon Starlight Korean Beef Roasting Festival will be held at Yeongcheon Riverside Park from the 12th to the 13th. This festival is gaining popularity every year due to the fantastic combination of wine and Korean beef, Yeongcheon’s representative specialty, and Yeongcheon wine in particular has been recognized globally for its excellence, winning the gold medal at the Berlin Wine Trophy in Germany every year since 2018.
During the festival, sampling and tasting events of Yeongcheon wine and Yeongcheon Starlight Korean beef will be held, and various cultural performances will be held along with various discount events. In addition, a discount event for local agricultural specialties such as garlic and fruits will also be held, providing visitors with a wealth of entertainment and food.
