Kigali: Moroccan-Rwandan economic meeting dedicated to investment opportunities in the two countries

Organized on the sidelines of the Africa CEO Forum (May 16-17), with the participation of the President of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), Chakib Alj, and the President of the Private Sector Federation (PSF) of Rwanda, Jeanne Francoise Mubiligi, the meeting was an opportunity to examine the prospects of developing new partnerships and investments in the fields of industry, agriculture, infrastructure, renewable energy, technology, finance and trade.

Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Mezzour stressed that the creation of employment opportunities is a priority for Morocco, noting that the private sector plays a central role in achieving this objective.

“We are here to support you in creating employment opportunities and success. We have put in place cooperation frameworks through significant investments,” said the minister who addressed members of the PSF, citing in this regard the Cooper Pharma project in Kigali, which he described as a “model initiative”.

Reaffirming his desire to develop the level of trade between the two countries, Mr. Mezzour noted that this ambition is part of the enlightened Vision of HM King Mohammed VI, may God help him, for the development of African continent. A vision based on solidarity, prosperity and sustainable development across Africa.

For his part, Mr. Chakib Alj stressed that Morocco has made notable progress, which has enabled it to position itself as a hub for Africa and a destination of choice for investors, at the same time as Rwanda has recorded exceptional progress in all areas, particularly technology.

“As business leaders, we wish to take advantage of the aspects of complementarity offered by Morocco and Rwanda, in order to contribute together in the co-development of our continent, create high-impact projects, in accordance with the vision leaders of both countries.”

For her part, the President of the PSF welcomed the distinguished partnership linking her Federation and the CGEM and which materialized through the work accomplished by the Morocco-Rwanda Business Council to bring together Moroccan and Rwandan businesses.

She also highlighted the partnership opportunities offered to the two employers’ organizations, particularly in the pharmaceutical industry.

The work of the 2024 edition of the Africa CEO Forum opened on Thursday in Kigali, with the participation of nearly 2,000 business leaders and political decision-makers from several African countries, including Morocco.

The Kingdom is represented at this two-day event by a large delegation led by Mr. Mezzour and composed in particular of Mr. Alj, the president and CEO of Royal Air Maroc (RAM), Mr. Abdelhamid Addou and the president of the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, Mr. Hicham El Habti.

Placed under the theme “AI, Leadership, Common Market: How Africa can win its place at the table of tomorrow’s powers,” the Forum is, according to the organizers, the largest international meeting of the African private sector.
