by time news

Tondela defeated Académico de Viseu by a clear 4-1 in the ‘dérbi’ da Beira Alta, counting for the 6th round of the II Liga.

Ricardo Alves put Tondela, playing at home, in front right at the 16th minute, with Roberto extending the lead two minutes later. Académico de Viseu managed to reduce the deficit before halftime through Yuri Araújo, but there was still time for Tondela to restore the two-goal advantage, with Pedro Maranhão making it 3-1 from the penalty spot.

In the second half, Académico de Viseu was reduced to ten players, and Tondela took advantage to secure the win, with Pedro Maranhão scoring again to set the final score at 4-1.

With this victory, Tondela reaches ten points and ties with Académico de Viseu in third place, which after three wins and one draw in the first four rounds has now suffered its second consecutive defeat in this II Liga 24/25 (having also been eliminated from the Taça de Portugal in the meantime).

However, both rivals from Beira Alta could be surpassed on the podium by Leixões, Feirense, and União de Leiria on Sunday.

At the top of the table, Penafiel is guaranteed to remain, having also won 2-0 against Portimonense away this Saturday. In second place is Benfica B, which won 3-0 at the home of second-to-last placed Paços de Ferreira.
