From the United States where he is participating in the 79th General Assembly of the United Nations, Prime Minister Amadou Oury Bah welcomed the total lifting of the suspension of Guinea by the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF).

“I welcome the decision of the International Organization of La Francophonie relating to the total lifting of the suspension of the Republic of Guinea within this organization”, writes Mr. Bah on his X account. Adding that “this decision of encouragement reflects the solidarity and confidence of the OIF in our country.”

For its part, La Francophonie indicates that “this decision is part of a new monitoring and evaluation mechanism adopted last June”.

“Although having noted the need for Guinea to continue its efforts on the aspect of rights and freedoms, the CPF has decided to express its solidarity with this member country, by completely lifting the suspension of the Republic of Guinea from the Francophonie pronounced in 2021,” informs the OIF in its press release.

“This decision is part of a new monitoring and evaluation mechanism adopted last June by the Permanent Council of La Francophonie, aiming to gradually restore the participation of suspended States based on the progress noted in the reestablishment of constitutional order and respect for rights and freedoms,” she adds.
