The disappearance of Maddie McCann remains unsolved after 17 years. A new witness testimony heavily implicates the suspect, Christian Brückner.

In the case of Madeleine McCann, the main suspect, Christian Brückner, is heavily implicated.
A former cellmate testified that Brückner confessed to him about the kidnapping of a child in Portugal.
Brückner is currently serving a seven-year prison sentence for the rape of an American tourist.
In the trial against Christian Brückner, the main suspect in the case of the missing Madeleine “Maddie” McCann since 2007, new incriminating statements have emerged. A former cellmate of the 47-year-old claims that Brückner confessed to him about the kidnapping of a child in Portugal. The German is currently in prison for other crimes and is facing trial in Braunschweig (Germany) for a series of sexual offenses.
The witness, Laurentiu Codin, testified in court that Brückner told him in their shared detention that he had entered an apartment in Portugal in search of money. However, he found no money there; instead, he came across a child and took it with him, as reported by the “Mirror”. Later, according to the testimony, Brückner claimed that the police had searched for him with sniffer dogs, but he had escaped in time.
Crucial evidence is missing
Codin’s statements refer to the year 2007 when the then three-year-old Maddie disappeared from a vacation apartment in Praia da Luz. Investigators have suspected for years that Brückner may be responsible for the disappearance of the British girl. However, crucial evidence is still lacking.
In addition to these statements, Codin accuses Brückner of having spoken about the kidnapping and rape of other girls. According to Codin, Brückner claimed that he had abducted girls from a bus he owned and sexually abused them. However, he never mentioned killing the victims.
He is a serial offender
Brückner is currently serving a seven-year prison sentence for the rape of an American tourist. The crime took place in 2005 in Praia da Luz. He is also accused of the rape of an Irish woman in 2004 and several other sexual offenses in the Algarve region between 2000 and 2017, including offenses against minors.
However, the suspect denies any involvement in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann and the crimes he is accused of in Portugal. The trial against Brückner is expected to conclude in December.
