/ The Pakistani government decided today, Friday, to end the crisis with Iran after the two countries exchanged military strikes with missiles and drones this week on targets that the two countries said belonged to militants.

Pakistan’s Geo TV quoted sources as saying that a government meeting chaired by the Acting Prime Minister also approved a measure to restore full diplomatic relations with Iran.

Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mumtaz Zahra Baloch confirmed earlier on Friday that her country does not want to escalate the dispute with Iran.

Yesterday, Thursday, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry announced that the army had launched a series of military strikes targeting “terrorist nests” in the Iranian province of Sistan and Baluchestan, stressing that “Pakistan fully respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The only goal of today’s action was to seek to achieve Pakistan’s security and the national interest that “It is of the utmost importance and cannot be touched.”

This comes the day after a missile and drone attack launched by the Iranian armed forces on the bases of the Jaish al-Adl organization in Pakistani territory.

Sistan and Baluchestan Province is located in southeastern Iran on the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan. It is the second largest Iranian province in terms of area and its capital is Zahedan.

The province consists of 7 regions between Sistan in the north and Baluchestan in the south. The Baloch ethnicity is considered the largest group living there, and it demands secession and the establishment of the Baluchi state.
