Kyiv: Russia carried out two consecutive attacks on a medical center in Ukraine’s north-eastern city of Sumy on Saturday morning, killing at least eight people. The officers provided this information. Ukraine’s Interior Minister Igor Klimenko said one person was killed in the first attack. When the patients and staff were leaving, Russia attacked again. Local officials of Sumi said that Shahed drone was used in the attack.
Oleksiy Drozdenko, head of the military administration of the city of Sumy, said eleven other people were injured in the attack. Sumy is located about 32 kilometers from the Kursk region of Russia. Ukrainian troops have been deployed here since August 6 with the aim of diverting the attention of Kremlin troops from Ukraine’s front line.
Russia launched drones overnight
Ukraine’s air force said it shot down 69 of 73 Russian drones launched overnight as well as two of four missiles. City officials in Kiev said about 15 drones had been shot down in the Ukrainian capital and its outskirts.
The body of a man was found under the debris of an administrative building hit by a Russian missile on Friday in Kryvyi Rih, the hometown of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, local officials said Saturday, bringing the death toll from the attack to four.
Belgorod regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said one person was killed and two others were injured in Ukrainian shelling in the Russian border town of Shebekino on Saturday.
