The University of Electrotechnical Sciences in Petersburg announced the development of new software that helps diagnose lung and vascular diseases.
Regarding the topic, the programmer in the Department of Biotechnical Systems at the university, Ksenia Sanarova, said: “Scientists at our university cooperated with scientists from the Russian Almazov Medical Center, and were able to develop software algorithms used in analyzing the results of lung tissue images and analyzing data related to complex vascular diseases. These The software will help doctors and specialists analyze medical data and reduce diagnosis time.”
She added: “We have developed an algorithm that allows us to automate the process of obtaining quantitative data when studying the condition of the vascular wall. This technology has helped significantly reduce data processing time. To use this algorithm, we need to download the data obtained during medical examinations and wait for the evaluation results.” Automatic”.
Sanarova pointed out that the process of evaluating the results of examinations for lung diseases and vascular diseases is currently carried out manually, and this requires a large amount of time and sufficiently qualified specialists, so it was necessary to develop software that facilitates the process of reviewing the results of medical examinations.
For her part, Daria Valenkova, an engineer in the automation department at the university, indicated that the new software that was developed can analyze data with an accuracy of up to 97%, and it is planned to develop an application based on these algorithms, for use by doctors and specialists in hospitals and medical laboratories.
